South San Francisco Cooling Station
Saturday, September 2 – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Please note the City of South San Francisco is offering a place for residents to get out of the heat and cool off tomorrow, Saturday, September 2nd at the Municipal Services Building, 33 Arroyo Drive, in the Social Hall from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.
Water will be available. Feel free to come by – read, play cards, mingle with other residents while enjoying an air-conditioned space.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for San Mateo County, which is in effect until 9 PM Monday, September 4, 2017.
TEMPERATURES: Daytime temperatures will have some locations surpassing 100 degrees.
IMPACTS: MODERATE to HIGH risk of heat related illness, especially for sensitive groups: elderly, children, sick people as well as pets and livestock. This heat will also be dangerous to anyone without proper hydration or adequate cooling.
ADDITIONAL IMPACTS: Plan outdoor activities accordingly. Try to schedule holiday weekend activities in the morning or evening when temperatures will be cooler, and with less exposure to direct sunlight.
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. Hot temperatures will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids…stay in an air-conditioned room…stay out of the sun…and check up on relatives and neighbors. The public can expect to have access to drinking water and simple activities such as access to the TV, books, music, and magazines.
