Monday Memorial Day in South City, more than just another BBQ

SSF Memorial Day Remembrance; Procession leaving at 9:30am from the fire station on Canal (between Spruce & Linden) and concludes at Orange Memorial Park at the Eternal Flame for a 10am ceremony honoring the men and women and their families who have sacrificed so much for us and our Nation.
City event – Free open to all, please join us!

Eternal Flame (Veteran’s Flame) – The flame was originally displayed at City Hall in the 1960’s. In 1984, a decision was made by City Council to move the Eternal Flame to Orange Park and restore the tile. In 2002, the Cultural Arts Commission completed another restoration of the tile.

  Everything South City Yep, and too many people never stop to check it out or understand the history and significance it carries. Thank you for acknowledging.

  Everything South City It was first displayed at City Hall and then moved to Orange Park with the tiles being restored. An email has been sent to folks on the Cultural Arts to see if we can find out how many tiles were used. The sculpture was to honor those from South City that died in WWII, Vietnam and Korean Wars.   Louie Dynes I used to climb on it when I was a kid. next to city hall. old police station. time capsule there also.
