March-April-May, 2013
Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community of South San Francisco,
It is hard to believe that we are in the second half of the academic year already. Many exciting activities are happening throughout the district.
Our Measure J projects are certainly multiplying fast! We have playground structures being installed at several of our elementary sites, and by the end of the summer all sites will have new playground structures.
In addition we have begun the architectural planning for several sites that will have installation, building and refurbishing of classroom buildings. The whole district will be experiencing major construction activity at many of our schools this summer.
At both of our high schools we will be improving our athletic facilities. I hope to have a new football field and track facility ready at El Camino HS for the start of the new academic year, followed by construction work to be done at South City HS in the fall. We are planning ribbon-cutting ceremonies for modular work in the month of April and for the athletic facilities by mid-May, I will inform the public of the exact dates and locations for these ceremonies.
Spring break this year will take place April 1-5. The State testing period will begin shortly after vacation. During the testing weeks please make sure your children are well rested and healthy so that they can do their best on the test.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our community again for supporting our students so generously throughout the year by either donating time or money in order to continue to provide for the many activities and educational opportunities we offer. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
