Hi Everyone:-)
My name is Pat Murray and I’m this year’s PTSA President. I’m coming to you, community members in South San Francisco, to ask for your help. Last year, we were able to gift the school with some of the funds to purchase benches for additional outdoor seating for the students. This year, we’d like to help again, possibly with a gift to help beautify the school. Our biggest fundraiser is our PTSA Membership Drive.
Why am I coming to you? I’m coming to invite you to become a member of our PTSA. You don’t need to attend meetings (unless you want to – the last Tuesday of each month.) You don’t need to “like” our Facebook page unless you want to. All you need to do is drop $10 into an envelope and address it to El Camino PTSA, 1320 Old Mission Rd, SSF, CA 94080 (and if you include your name and address, I’ll be able to send you a card and a “thank you!”
Please, please, please consider it!! Thanks!!
In addition to helping the school and kids, there are additional “perks” of membership http://www.capta.org/sections/

Below is additional information from the Facebook page:
As we said previously, your $10 membership fee supports schools and families on every level of government, but there are also some benefits, like PTA scholarship monies and discounts and resources offered through the National PTA. For more information, please visit www.pta.org and www.capta.org

About
community of El Camino High School, South San Francisco.
The overall purpose of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
The purpose of the PTSA at El Camino is to support the administration, faculty and staff in making El Camino the best it can be to provide our children with a good education and an enriched environment. During this year, we will be looking into ways that we can best do this.
To improve communication between the PTSA and El Camino families, we’ve set up an email address: el.camino.ptsa.2013@gmail.com and this Facebook page. I see this as a way to inform parents of PTSA and school events and to answer parent questions/concerns.
How can you show your support for PTSA? JOIN us!! The cost of membership is $10.00 per member. Our hope is that each family has at least two members. The bulk of the monies received goes directly to supporting the school and our kids (a smaller portion goes to the state and national PTAs for the many ways they support families and education – from literature to lobbying!) Please make this a priority. Fill out the envelope you receive in the summer mailing, put your payment inside and send it with your student on the first day of school. If you’re writing a check, please make it payable to the El Camino PTSA. Thanks (in advance) for your support!!
Members are also encouraged to attend our monthly meetings on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Large Conference Room of the Main Office (directions will be posted!) Your membership does not require you to attend, but I can assure you, it is worthwhile. Not only does the meeting provide a place for you to meet other parents, but it provides you an opportunity to become informed and a forum to discuss the issues that are important to you. The principal and a teacher attend every meeting!
From everything I’ve read and experienced in my 17 years as a “PTA parent”, parent involvement is the number one indicator of a child’s success in school. What is parent involvement? One research study from Harvard said it best… Parent involvement not only includes participating in school events and parent meetings, but also includes being informed and communicating with your child. This is where the PTSA Meetings are key!
Enjoy your summer and I hope to see you in the fall! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me or message me!
Thanks,
Pat Murray
