Well it is official – The Mercado Y Panaderia Hernandez on Grand Avenue has been sold and we wish to thank Rita, Francisco and their family for providing us with such a wonderful local store. You have been a mainstay for many of us, and a special excursion for many more. You have brought wonderful improvements to our downtown area and have laid the groundwork for those who follow in your footsteps. Thank you for raising the bar of our local establishments and setting the environment for success.
Be blessed in all future endeavors.

Dear beloved customers:
We wish to keep our promise if a sale had been completed and as of today we wish to state Mercado Y Panaderia Hernandez has been sold to new owners who will manage the store within the new few days. The transition will happen swiftly and will cater to the same fundamentals and philosophy. First and foremost, we appreciate all of the patrons who followed us for more than 30 years. Your dedication has not gone unnoticed and we are forever grateful when we watched your footsteps walk through our doors and exited with beloved smiles of holding freshly baked pastries.
We also appreciate all of our employees who has stayed with us until the end; we are extremely thankful and appreciative for the hard work day-in and day-out without hesitation. It is an employers dream to have assembled a team of your caliber.
We would love to thank the City of South San Francisco- this city has been our home for more than 20 years and were blessed by the opportunity to establish our business and home within this city.
Words cannot express our gratitude for the wonderful people we have met- it is an honor and privilege.

May T from Wellington New Zealand I wanted to get some Mexican dessert for a birthday gathering this week so headed into the panaderia because it always caught my eye on Grand Ave. Much to my delight, they have an entire wall filled with sweets, pastries and bread. A Mexican smorgasbord of sweets. I bought some marbled cake slices, some yellow cake slices, some alfajores and stuffed churros. STUFFED CHURROS?! They also have quite an impressive array of groceries. (YELP review)
