SSFPD Media Release: Phone Scam Posing as SSF City Employee

On February 27, 2014 at approximately 4:00 p.m., two separate South San Francisco residents from different addresses (2500 block of Olympic Drive & 3800 block of Palos Verde Way) reported receiving a phone call from a male subject identifying himself as an employee from the City of South San Francisco.

The subject indicated that construction was going to occur in their respective neighborhoods and asked if they were interested in any work being done. No personal information was provided to the subject by either of the residents. The City of South San Francisco has not authorized any employee to solicit work via telephone or any other means. Anyone who has had similar phone calls or has any further information is encouraged to call the South San Francisco Police Department at (650) 877-8900 or the anonymous tip line at (650) 952-2244.
