#TBT 636 El Camino Real

South San Francisco, CA    March 2, 2014636 ECR before bldg out 711 4.3

A little #TBT (Throw Back Thursday) from our 2011 files elicited these comments from neighbors:

Amanda Parker-Govea Back when you could see our beautiful hill from El Camino but a lot more people have a place to call home now, so that is good

Monica Burke sure do miss that view.

Keri Stark sad, it’s never gonna be the same…all up and down the el camino…

Everything South City to  Keri Stark:  El Camino Real from Daly City to San Jose have all become part of the Grand Blvd project”The purpose of the Grand Boulevard Initiative Complete Streets Program is to develop the El Camino Real Corridor as a multimodal boulevard that is safe and efficient for all users (pedestrians, bicycles, transit, and automobiles of all ages and abilities).

The Complete Streets Program builds upon the streetscape design guidelines in the Grand Boulevard Initiative Multimodal Transportation Corridor Plan (2010). (Click here to access the Multimodal Transportation Corridor Plan). The Corridor Plan explores the potential for pedestrian, bicycle, automobile, and transit design options along the El Camino Real corridor (State Route 82). The Corridor Plan translates the Grand Boulevard Initiative Vision into tangible strategies and prototype design concepts from which local jurisdictions can choose and implement multimodal transportation design improvements.” More info www.grandboulevard.net/

Carol Borba Born in South City, my grandparents lived on Randolf Ave.

Luis Salazar Beautiful view. .

Jasmin Sutter Didn’t realize how amazing that view was until a giant apt building came in and blocked it.

Marlen De Avila “that bldg.” provides numerous homes for a lot of ppl. Some that couldn’t otherwise afford the high prices of renting in the Bay Area. A lot of ppl are steady complaining about the loss of view? are you kidding me? Those of you who feel that way are afraid of change. Look around you change is happening all the time, everywhere. Not just change but advancement, I’d sure like to look at this bldg. rather than an abandoned lot or trailer park.

Jay Morena coincidently, I worked at that 7-11 n went to that H/S

Gina Rafael-Colgrove Why would saying you would rather look at a nice hillside vs a concrete building mean someone is afraid of change – glad it provided housing for people but come on – who the hell prefers looking at an apartment building over a hillside/mountains – just saying.

Marlen De Avila when you put it that way your right it doesn’t make sense. On the other hand the bldg. is quite nice on the outside, not ugly, not run down, nice color, etc. The good out weighs the bad. Plus if you walk/drive to the corner of Mr. Pizza Man you can still see that lovely mountain.

Karen Johanson Too bad it doesn’t still look just like that!

Dana Compani I like this view a lot better too, too much congestion now.

Jon Henz lets build on the montains

Beata Morena “Memories are Made of This” la la la la
