Get to know your neighbors on NATIONAL NIGHT OUT!
National Night Out is coming up Tuesday August 5, 2014 and it provides a great opportunity for neighbors to get out on their blocks and catch up with each other. Strong neighborhoods are safer neighborhoods and increase property value!
In addition the City is sponsoring an event at Orange Memorial Park on this evening. Below is the information from our City. From the City:
In recognition of America’s National Night Out, the City of South San Francisco is proud to sponsor this community awareness event. This event, also known as America’s Night Out Against Crime, began in 1984 in an effort to organize communities against crime. Neighbors recognized that by raising neighborhood awareness and promoting crime prevention, they could better protect their communities by taking action against crime. The successes of National Night Out soon became apparent as neighborhoods flourished with conversation, spurred by common interests, shared goals and newfound partnerships. Today, this event has become an annual tradition for over 15,000 communities throughout America, spanning across all fifty states. Since its inception, the goals of National Night Out have always been to fight crime, support neighbors, develop partnerships, enhance rapport, and encourage conversation among neighbors. National Night Out is and will always be a celebration of neighborhood camaraderie. You can find out more about National Night Out at the official website HERE.
The ultimate goal for this year’s National Night Out is to encourage South San Francisco residents to get to know their neighbors, learn about crime prevention and emergency preparedness, and develop community partnerships. The following departments will be on hand to share information: Police Explorer’s, Fire Department personnel, Learning Wheels, Public Works staff and Parks and Recreation.
