South San Francisco, CA December 30, 2014 From Everything South City Facebook Page
Thanks to Sharon Kay Gustilo Meyer for the hook up on tonight’s Travel Channel ‘s series Hotel Impossible which will feature South City’s CitiGarden Hotel this evening at 9pm. Props to CitiGarden for working to step things up a notch.
From the Travel Channel’s website;
“Anthony is on the case to improve the CitiGarden Hotel in San Francisco, which when he arrives has disgusting guest rooms, an underperforming general manager, and a lot of negative reviews to overcome. “
Thank you, HI fans, for your passion. Thank you, Anthony, for coming to our Hotel at our request. Our intentions were not for freebies but for Anthony to meet the owner to discuss how she can invest in her hotel and the people running the hotel. The show is only an hour therefore, the whole story is not reflected, and is edited. The show is also a reality show… enough said there. The GM, Andre, had to prove his worth to the owner this past year with only the profit made in his tenure. Point being, improvements were being made prior to the show and our loyal guests have noticed and are happy with the changes. Ms. Kim, the owner, is a single owner therefore her budget is limited. Action was taken while Hotel Impossible was filming at the hotel: the GM held a staff meeting, which was filmed unexpectedly during the meeting, but was not aired. In that meeting, the GM discussed all the things Anthony mentioned which ARE things he has mentioned to the staff in the past year. We had Ecolab train all the housekeeping staff on how to properly clean the rooms using the right products. Ms. Kim, the owner, did agree to the branding change. Branding does not happen overnight let alone in a little over 2 months, which is when the show was actually filmed. The owner is committing to more than $350K to update not only the guestrooms but the banquet rooms and the garden. The banquet rooms are just finishing up a full renovation. The Mayor of SF just attended a New Year’s Eve banquet at our Hotel. We are starting renovations on 40 rooms. This is our reality. The hospitality business is one like no other, it is in your blood, and it is a selfless and exciting industry. Managers have come and gone but the faithful have stayed, determined to constantly improve this hotel. Despite our obstacles, we will work to do the best for this Hotel so that our guests are more than pleased. We look forward to all the wonderful changes to come … stay tuned! Thank you!
