South San Francisco, CA May 15, 2015 Submitted by John Horgan SSFUSD
The South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees received a comprehensive timeline/update on a process to select a new superintendent on May 13.
Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, a professional search firm, is assisting the board members in their effort to find a replacement for Alejandro Hogan, who resigned from the District’s top administrative position earlier this spring.
At the May 13 special board meeting, trustees agreed with the particulars of a proposed timeline presented by officials of the search firm. Here are some key dates for decisions as outlined:
Screening interviews of candidates, June 10 and 11; first board interviews, June 26 and 27; second interviews, June 28; preferred candidate site visit, July 1 or 6; new superintendent appointed, July 23. More board interviews, if needed, could be held July 6-9. Another site visit could be held July 13 or 14, if necessary.
Board president Judy Bush emphasized that in-District candidates would be encouraged to apply for the position. She added that a diverse group of candidates is much-desired.
The search will be national in scope. Advertisements in various media are scheduled to be posted, beginning this week.
