Your Help is Needed for the 4th of July Cookie Program

South San Francisco, CA     June 10, 2015     Submitted by Anita Palafox, City of SSF

Volunteers are needed to help with the 2 day 4th of July Cookie Program event which is sponsored by the South San Francisco Community Outreach Program to ensure the seniors in our neighborhoods are remembered during holidays through out the year.

On Monday June 29th at 9am volunteers will meet at Raymond’s Sourdough located at the corner of Spruce Avenue and Starlight (172 Starlight) to bake cookies. Due to safety concerns volunteers must be 18 years of age and older.

The second stage of this program will take place the day after on Tuesday June 30th between 3-5pm at Fire Station 61 which is located at 480 North Canal (between Spruce and Linden Avenues). Volunteers of all ages and capabilities are needed to package cookies to be given to the 800 seniors living in our community.

For more information or to RSVP please contact Anita Palafox at 650/877.8542 or Anita.Palafox@ssf.net

Since one of my days off is Tuesday, I am usually free to participate in the Cooke Wrap event. The day before, on Monday, volunteers will be baking the cookies for us to package on Tuesday. It’s a good team effort, and we usually finish early. Usually one or two of our City Council Members (including our Mayor) work right along with us. It’s a good feeling to do something nice for our Senior Citizens! I am happy to be able to help out, and I invite you to come on by and join in the fun! P.S. We get to EAT the broken cookies!
