South San Francisco, CA January 19, 2015 Submitted by John Horgan, SSFUSD
The Trustees of the South San Francisco Unified School District will hold a special public meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the District Office to consider making another provisional appointment to the Board.
The Board currently has a vacancy due to the death of Rick Ochsenhirt last month.
On Jan. 14, the Board appointed John Baker on a provisional basis to fill a seat created by the departure of Maurice Goodman, who was elected to the San Mateo County Community College Board of Trustees in November.
At that same meeting, the Trustees were unable to reach consensus on naming a second provisional Board member. The Jan. 20 meeting will be an opportunity to try to fill that position again.
Six of seven candidates who applied for a Board seat earlier this month have agreed to be interviewed again. They are: Kristina Anderson, April Black, Diana Lujan, Patricia Murray, Reem Nasrah and William Martin Romero.
Both seats will be up for election this coming November. The election for Mr. Goodman’s former seat will be for a full, four-year term; the election for the late Mr. Ochsenhirt’s chair will be for the remainder of his term, two years.
