Family, friends and colleagues gathered for a special badge and swearing in ceremony this morning in the City Council Chambers as South San Francisco Chief of Police Jeff Azzopardi promoted three officers and welcomed three new officers, one of which returned from retirement after serving South San Francisco for 28 years. City Clerk Krista Martinelli administered the oath to the new officers in front of a standing-room only crowd.

“This is an exciting time for South San Francisco and an exciting time to serve our City,” said Chief Azzopardi. “Our police force is growing and the graduates coming out of school are eager and committed to our city and team.”

Azzopardi also took time to recognize Officer Mark Saunders, who retired in 2012, but returned today. “We were thrilled to welcome Mark Saunders back into the department and thankful to our City Council and City Manager for allowing this to happen,” Azzopardi said of Saunders wanting to return to the force.

The following people were sworn into the South San Francisco Police Department:

* Officer Brian Grigg – attended Chico State University

* Officer Viviann Nguyen – attended University of California at Irvine

* Officer Mark Saunders – served 28 years in the department, retired in 2012; attended Sacramento State University

In addition, Azzopardi recognized the following people on their promotions:

* Corporal Mike Garcia to Sergeant

* Officer Matt O’Connor to Corporal

* Officer Amy Sariotti to Corporal

“These three people are very involved with the community and it’s clear how devoted they are to keeping our City safe… these promotions are well deserved,” continued Azzopardi.

The new plan is to hire college-educated cops like the ones above. It didn’t take long for the educated Nguyen to be involved in a shooting of a man who threw a pylon at the police. Sixteen shots felled the man who was unarmed at the time he was shot. Their stories are blatant nonsense, complete with blaming fog for being unable to find the wounded suspect to administer first aid, not to mention police radio traffic that they claim led them to believe an officer had been shot. Nguyen may not have fired a shot, but it’s hard to imagine she wasn’t involved in piecing together the nonsense they brought to the DA that cleared them. It takes more than brains than the average cop to accomplish that. College-educated indeed.

Viviann Nguyen how do a corrupt police officer like you sleep at night? You are a disgrace to the police department.

To Viviann Nguyen,

Plaese take your badge and uniform off because you don’t deserve to wear them for abusing your authority.

Dear Officer Vivian Nguyen,

I just wanted to let you know that you are the kind of cop that makes me loose hope for other good officers because of the way you gave me a ticket for poor judgement on your part. I know the judge will be 99.99% on your side no matter what explantation I will give to him/her. I just wanted to write this letter to express my feeling because I know cops are human too and they also make poor judgement. I also wanted to let you know that I been driving there for the past 16 years and this is the first time a cop gave me a ticket for the same stop sign I been stopping in 16 years. I did stopped at that same stop sign and yet you decided to give me a ticket. I am not thankful for your bad service and also for poor judgement. Vivian Nguyen you are the worst cop I ever encountered and I hope someday you will get what you deserve for abusing your power.

Sincerely Yours,

Law Abiding Citizen

This is very wise of South City to rehire a retired officer. San Francisco has been doing it for years with their PD. You have an experienced officer who already is collecting his pension and benefits, yet earns a little bit extra that does not go to his retirement monthly, and he can be a big benefit to the other officers.
