The San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Quality Assurance Manager – Limited Term for the Laboratory.
Under general direction of the Laboratory Director, the Clinical Laboratory Quality Assurance Manager – Limited Term, will develop, implement and/or maintain quality assurance/improvement and control programs for a medical, public or forensic laboratory or a medical hospital and clinics; and develop and maintain policies and procedures that meet current laws, rules and regulations. The Clinical Laboratory Quality Assurance Manager – Limited Term will also exercise direct and indirect supervision over lower level supervisory, professional, technical and clerical employees.
The ideal candidate will:
possess a Bachelor’s degree in related science and Master’s degree
have five years supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory setting
possess United States National Accreditation Agency preferred – ASCP, NAACLS

Assess quality assurance/improvement (QA/QI) needs and trends for San Mateo Medical Center by reviewing current practices, and gathering, compiling and evaluating data related to employees, services, problems reported, and patient feedback.
Assist in monitoring and compiling reports on compliance with federal, state and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
Plan/execute programs designed to enhance physician, nursing and support staff knowledge of quality improvement.
Participate in or chair and coordinate hospital, agency, or departmental committees related to quality improvement and/or safety/risk management.
Prepare quality assessment/improvement reports, surveys, and written responses for hospital administration, medical staff, regulatory agencies, and others.
Assist County Counsel and County Risk Management with claims and litigations.

TITLE: Health Educator
ORGANIZATION : Daly City Youth Health Center
REPORTS TO: Senior Program Manager
HOURS: 25 hours/week for 11 months August 2015-June 2016, Monday-Friday 8:00am-1pm and occasional evening and weekend hours required
Introduction: The Daly City Youth Health Center is a collaborative program of the Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD) and the San Mateo Medical Center. The Health Center provides free comprehensive, integrated, school-linked health and education services to adolescents and young adults 12-24 to enable them to become healthy, responsible and productive adults. Services include primary medical care, mental health counseling, health education, and vocational counseling for adolescents.
Description: Under the direction of the Senior Program Manager, the Health Educator provides outreach, sexual health education, clinical services linkage and referrals to teens and their families as outlined by current and relevant grants. These services are for teens attending the schools in the Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD), other local schools and service sites who are at risk for pregnancy, absentee fatherhood, and sexually transmitted infections.
Responsibilities:
Provide information on pregnancy and STI/HIV prevention methods at schools and other service sites
Refer teens at schools and other service sites to clinical services and other resources
Implement 10 hour sexual health education curriculum to JUHSD classrooms
Communicate and collaborate with JUHSD school teachers, community organizations and DCYHC staff
Give presentations about the programs and its activities in the schools and community
Document completely and accurately all presentations and activities, for tracking and evaluation purposes
Regularly evaluate and update curriculum material
Assist with peer health education program as needed
Adhere to guidelines and organizational policies and procedures
Collect and evaluate demographic data from all health classes in the JUHSD
Attend monthly staff meetings
Qualifications:
B.A or B.S in Health Education, Psychology, Social Work, Human Sexuality, Education or related field or at least 5 years of experience providing community and/or street outreach and health education in communities with diverse cultural backgrounds
Experience providing health education in school settings and/or community health centers
Experience working with at-risk adolescents of all ethnic backgrounds in school settings or in agencies providing similar services
Passionate about the Health Center’s mission
Well-organized and efficient
Experience with classroom management
Flexible and team oriented
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism
Must have vehicle and valid CA Driver’s License
Knowledge of STI/HIV, teen pregnancy, sexual health and educational issues is a plus

Salary/ Benefits: This is a grant-funded, benefitted, 11 month, Range C JUHSD position; starting range $15.07-$17.47 depending on experience. Length of employment/hours available is dependent on secured grant funding. Bilingual stipend provided at an additional $.63/hr for Spanish or Tagalog. Mileage reimbursement is also available.
