Did you know, 1 in 6 seniors in America faces the threat of hunger and 1 in 4 lives alone in isolation? For the past 39 years, PVI Meals on Wheels has endeavored to reach every senior in need of nutritious meals and friendly visits that help them remain in their homes, where they want to be. With the senior population expected to double by 2050, we need your assistance with this effort. We are looking for volunteer help to deliver meals to our clients residing on the Peninsula and would like to start by spreading the word. Can you help?
PVI Meals on Wheels has been the sole provider of home delivered meals to residents of south San Mateo County since 1977. Meal recipients are primarily homebound older adults and adults with disabilities who cannot cook or shop for themselves and have no one to reliably help them. In March, PVI Meals on Wheels initiated an expansion of our program to provide hot, nutritious meals to residents residing in north San Mateo County. Previously these residents received only frozen meals delivered once per week. We now deliver 2,000 meals prepared in our kitchen each week from Menlo Park/East Palo Alto to San Bruno. Each client receiving a fresh meal and a wellness check. In January we will add the cities of Brisbane, Colma, Daly City, and South San Francisco.
UPDATE: PLEASE NOTE Volunteers needed weekdays only!Thank you.
