More than 60 Kaiser Permanente physicians, nurses and staff provided free health screenings to seniors as part of the City of South San Francisco 20th annual Senior Health Fair sponsored by Kaiser Permanente.
Over 640 seniors attended last week’s event, which brought together health care providers and support services in one convenient location. Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco partnered with the city’s Park and Recreation Department in sponsoring the health fair.
“Collaborating with the city of South San Francisco on the annual senior health fair is so rewarding,” said Sheila Fusaro, Assistant Medical Group Administrator for Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco. “Kaiser Permanente values its partnerships with communities to promote health and well-being. The annual Senior Health Fair is a prime example and also fits our mission of supporting the health of the communities we serve.”
Health screenings included blood pressure checks, hearing and vision tests and cholesterol readings. Information on skin care, nutrition, physical therapy and medication tips from Kaiser Permanente pharmacists were also available. Physicians and care team members from the Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Cancer Treatment Center also provided information on cancer prevention.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the health fair, Sheila Fusaro joined South San Francisco City Council Member Karyl Matsumoto to cut a special anniversary cake. San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa, representing District 5, also attended.
I did not know the date of the 2024 South San Francisco Senior Health Fair and by the time I discovered it was happening on May 17, I couldn’t attend because I was not in the area. Has the date and location of the 2025 Senior Health Fair been determined yet?
