South San Francisco, CA May 17, 2017 Submitted by Sheri Boles, City of South San Francisco
Why is donating blood important and life-saving? Blood and blood products are necessary for individuals who require transfusions after accidents that may send them to hospital emergency rooms. Blood is also used for premature infants, cancer patients, and transplant patients.
Donating blood is a simple, four-step process: (1) Registration; (2) Medical History and Mini Physical; (3) Donation; and (4) Refreshments. One pint of blood is given during a donation. Please allow about one hour.
For more information, please contact Sheri Boles, City Manager’s Office, at 650.829.6680, 650.318.8657 (cell), or sheri.boles@ssf.net.
