SUPERVISOR DAVE PINE’S STATEMENT REGARDING THE FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEEMENT TO EXECUTE THE FULL FUNDING GRANT AGREEMENT COMMITTING $647 MILLION TO THE CALTRAIN ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT
REDWOOD CITY — “The decision by Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to release federal funding for the Caltrain Electrification Project is an enormous and unexpected win for Caltrain and its riders,” said Supervisor Dave Pine, who serves on the Caltrain Joint Powers Board of Directors. “Caltrain serves one of the most valuable economic regions in the nation – if not the world – and electrification of the rail line will allow more trains and increased ridership without the current diesel pollution. Our thanks go to our federal, state and local officials, as well as our partners in business and labor, who so effectively advocated for this critical funding.”
