South San Francisco, CA August 5, 2017 Submitted by County of San Mateo
HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT LOCAL GOVERNMENT? WONDER WHERE YOUR TAX DOLLARS GO? THEN CIVICS 101 IS FOR YOU!
Civics 101 is a free, nine-week program that provides participants with an in-depth look at County programs, services and finances. Participants are exposed to the workings of County government, primarily via presentations by department heads.
The 2017 program meets on nine Wednesday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., from September 13 through November 15 (no meeting October 11). There will also be a Saturday morning session Oct. 21 at Edgewood Park from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Light snacks are provided before each evening meeting.
Civics 101 is also an opportunity for us to learn from you. What are your priorities for improving the quality of life for all on the Peninsula? What do you care about? What are your ideas? We want to know. We will also encourage graduates to serve on one of the County’s many boards and commissions, where volunteers like you work to improve our community.
Please find the 2017 application below. APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 22, 2017. Candidates will be notified of their status by August 25, 2017.
You may submit using the instructions provided on the application, and you will receive a confirmation of receipt.
