Robert L. Warfield, born Nov. 30, 1932, died Nov. 22, 2017, with his family at his side.
Born in Martinez, California, to parents Flora Lorinda Gardner and William Jennings Bryan Warfield; attended schools in Martinez; graduated from Alhambra High School then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
Subsequently he attended San Francisco State University earning a bachelor’s degree, teaching credential and master’s degrees in education, administration and counseling.
Robert joined the South San Francisco Unified School District in 1959 as teacher and coach. He then became the assistant principal in charge of discipline, counseling and student activities. The last 14 years before retirement in 1997 were at El Camino High School in South San Francisco as assistant principal in the same capacity. After retirement, he was the coordinator of the Outdoor Ed program until 2014.
Robert is survived by his wife and partner of 43 years, Sonia; his children by a former marriage to Janette Clausen (deceased), sons Robert E. (Jill), William, daughter Karen Anderson (Darin), stepchildren Steven Ravaglioli (Bonnie), Dina Dewes (Roger), Douglas J. Ravaglioli, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial service is 1 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Episcopal Church of St. Matthew in San Mateo.
