On Thursday morning February 1, 2018 at approximately 6:25 a.m., South San Francisco Police Officers along with the South San Francisco Fire Department responded to the 100 block of El Camino Real, on a report of a collision between an automobile and a pedestrian.
The police investigation revealed that a 43-year-old San Jose resident was attempting to cross the three southbound lanes of El Camino Real, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and has cooperated fully with the investigation.
Traffic was detoured around the collision scene for several hours while South San Francisco Police traffic officers conducted their investigation. The traffic collision is still under investigation but there does not appear to be any criminal violations associated at this time.
