On Wednesday evening at approximately 9:10 p.m., two subjects were involved in a verbal argument in a parking lot on the 1100 block of Mission Road in South San Francisco. During the argument, a third subject intervened, attempting to defend his friend and the argument became a physical fight. Eventually, the fight broke up and the subjects separated. Approximately five minutes later, one of the subjects returned to the scene with a gun and fired approximately three shots in direction of the subject who was initially defending his friend during the argument. The victim fled, driving northbound on Mission Road. As the victim fled, the suspect fired more shots, striking the vehicle and causing damage. The victim positively identified 26-year-old South San Francisco resident Hugo Mendez as the primary suspect who fired the weapon. None of the bullets struck any persons involved.
