On Friday evening at approximately 6:26 p.m. a South San Francisco resident was sitting in her car on the 400 block of C Street in South San Francisco, when a subject started knocking on the window and shaking the car. When the victim opened the door, the suspect assaulted her, stole her personal property and fled in an older model red van. The victim did not sustain any injuries from the assault.
Approximately 15 minutes after the incident, a resident reported a suspicious red van on the 100 block of B Street, a few blocks away from the original incident. Responding officers located 49 year old unemployed *San Mateo resident Rosa Vargas standing near the vehicle in possession of the victim’s property . The victim positively identified Vargas as the suspect who stole her property. Vargas was later booked into the San Mateo County main jail without further incident.
