South San Francisco, CA November 30, 2020 Submitted by SSFPD
On November 28, 2020 at about 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a hotel on the 600 block of Gateway Boulevard in South San Francisco on the report of fraudulent activity. Officers contacted a subject, later identified as 37 yo unemployed Gilroy resident, Gary Lombardo, who was suspected of passing counterfeit bills and providing a false name to officers.
Lombardo fled from officers on foot and, in the process, intentionally struck an officer in the leg with a skateboard. Lombardo was aided in his attempt to flee by an unknown female associate as she purposely stopped her vehicle in front of officers during the foot pursuit, but she was unsuccessful in delaying the officers. She eventually fled the scene in a silver Kia Soul believed to be stolen.
Lombardo tripped while running from officers and was taken into custody without further incident. Lombardo sustained minor injuries as a result of the fall. Lombardo was medically cleared prior to being booked into the main jail for the below listed charges.
The officer sustained a complaint of pain to his leg, received medical treatment at a local hospital and was released.
