Join San Francisco Wine School in producing the highest quality classes and events in the industry.
Position: Wine Educator
Department: Operations
Reports to: Founder/CEO, David Glancy
Hours: Availability is solicited quarterly for the next quarter’s classes & periodically for special events.
Instructors may request as few or as many classes as they like. Schedules are assigned based on availability, credentials and the needs of the students or clients
Wages: $50+/hr commensurate with experience and credentials
Benefits: Government mandated including health insurance when full time + employee discounts on classes, special events and retail wine purchases. Tuition reimbursement for certifications taken to expand teaching eligibility
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review slides, learning objectives, and wine lists in advance of each class.
- Ask questions or raise concerns to CEO about slides, objectives, or wines well in advance of class date.
- Maintain knowledge of subject areas to be taught.
- Give feedback to the CEO and Cellar Master so that all continuously improve and offer the best student experience.
- Arrive 30+ minutes prior to all classes to be ready when the first student arrives.
- Leave the classroom as clean it was at the beginning of class.
- For Zoom classes, create polls, or request help with them, to maximize student engagement.
- Responsible for having pc or MacBook to share slides from.
Skills Required:
- Ability to relate to, empathize with, and inspire students and guests
- Ability to create engagement with students whether online or in-person
- Ability to push students to perform while showing them respect
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with management, peers, and guests
- Must have at least the credentials they are teaching towards, including the following: Master Sommelier, Master of Wine, DWS (WSET 4), FWS, IWS, SWS, CWE or CSW, CSE or CSS, Cicerone, Sake Educator
- Must have restaurant sommelier experience for Somm Essentials, Restaurant Wine 101 or Wine Program Management
- Prefer some aspect of wine industry experience for other classes, including: restaurant, winery, retail, wholesale, import, export
- Zoom Room experience is preferred
- Reliability and timeliness
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina to teach while standing and able to lift at least 50lbs when needed

Position: Part-Time Operations & Cellar Assistant
Department: Operations
Reports to: Office Manager/Event Coordinator & Cellar Master
Hours: Flexible/Part-Time ~20 hrs per wk. Additional hours also available to cover staff leave. May be combined with other openings to create full time work
Wages: $20+/hr commensurate with experience
Benefits: Government mandated including health insurance when full time + employee discounts on classes, special events and retail wine purchases. Flexible schedule w/ remote work possible at times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage supply inventory for class and shipping materials
- Assist with custom tasting kit assembly
- Manage tasting kit shipping process
- Assist with event & class set up and breakdown. This may include handling fragile crystal, moving banquet furniture and implementing detail floor plan layouts and table sets
- Assist with instructor scheduling
- Maintain general organization and cleanliness of shipping area
- Assist with receiving wines, cellar organization, and perpetual inventory
- Cross-train in other jobs to provide absentee coverage, and increase growth opportunities
Skills Required:
- Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets experience and general computer/technology abilities are required. Salesforce and Zoom Room experience is preferred
- General ability to read / understand wine labels

Hours: Part-Time On Call up to 30 hours per week
Wages: $16+/hr commensurate with experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Special event & classroom set up and breakdown. This may include handling fragile crystal, moving banquet furniture and implementing detail floor plan layouts and table sets
- Supply inventory & stocking
- Monitor special events and respond to clearing & replenishing needs promptly
- Provide additional service to support servers, sommeliers, instructors, and/or guests based on level of experience.
- Maintain general cleanliness of office space, classrooms, kitchen and storage room, back of house with daily cleaning. This includes dusting, vacuuming, dishwashing, glassware polishing, laundry, windows, trash / recycling, light maintenance, etc.
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends as required by business levels noting that schedules/shifts are subject to change.
