South San Francisco, CA November 2, 2021 Press Release
In an effort to decrease the risk of exposure to COVID-19, we will not be offering Winter Camp this year. The purpose of stable groups is to limit close physical contact only to those in a group as it decreases opportunities for being exposed to the virus while giving the opportunity for social interaction between individuals within the group. Keeping the same people in the same small group, rather than mixing and mingling, helps reduce the chance you or someone else will get COVID-19. If someone does get sick, it is also easier to trace a person’s close contacts when group members are known.
Many of the children who attend camp come from different schools up and down the Peninsula. An exposure in our camp has the potential to reach many of these schools when the children return in January. Because of this and the safety of our children, families and staff is the utmost importance to us, we will not be operating a 2 week winter camp program and creating mixed school groups that will increase the risk of exposure to staff and children.
