South City’s own Chef Ava Marie shared an easy recipe for Beefy Pierogis on her Facebook page recently. See the recipe below and make it for dinner tonight!
“Yesterday I made a delicious easy skillet pierogi meal using Kirkland’s signature ground beef, frozen mixed vegetables, and 1 tablespoon brown gravy mix. I got the pierogis at @grocery_outlet for $2. It contains spinach, broccoli, and cheese, it’s so good and such a hearty dish.”
Skillet Beefy Pierogi Meal
1 package spinach and cheddar pierogis
1 lb Kirkland signature ground beef one of 6 pack from @costco
1 onion chopped
1 teaspoon @kindersflavors caramelized onion butter seasoning
Salt and pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon @mccormickspice brown gravy mix
1 cup water
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
Cheddar cheese for serving
In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat brown beef and onion until rendered down. Drain excess fat but reserve 3 tbl of fat to pan. Add the rest of the meat to the pot and add seasonings, flour, gravy mix, and water. Cook until thickened, 2 minutes, then add in frozen mixed vegetables and pierogis. Cook uncovered for 5 minutes, stirring to combine so it doesn’t stick to the skillet. Add more water if needed to help break up bits – only 1/4 cup, but no more or it will be watery.
Divide into serving plates and top with cheese and enjoy
