The County of San Mateo Arts Commission members provide opportunities for local artists to showcase their artwork within the public service area in two San Mateo County government buildings. Local artist Betancourt has his artwork featured in honor of National Disabilities Awareness Month, working with the San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities.

The Caldwell and Community Galleries, located on the first and lower floor levels of 400 County Center, Redwood City, have hanging systems for two-dimensional art. Betancourt’s artwork can be found on the first floor.

The other public viewing is within the Rotunda Gallery, located on the first floor of 555 County Center, Redwood City, which exhibits three-dimensional art.

The County has hosted art exhibits in these buildings for over ten years. The galleries are open to the public during normal business hours, typically Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Everything South City is proud to recognize the work produced by Betancourt and we continue to acknowledge the incredible Adult Transition Program which enables our local young adults to continue their education beyond High School.

Maryanne Mathieson, a para-educator with ATP, has told usThe SSFUSD ATP assists and supports students with disabilities with job skills and life skills beyond their high school experience until they are 22 years old. It is the ultimate goal of the South San Francisco Unified School District  ATP to help prepare a student with the necessary tools for a successful transition into the community upon completion.

Betancourt’s work of art, the Bright Night Sky, can be purchased for $30. For more information please contact WMetcalfe@SSFUSD.org
