South San Francisco, CA December 28, 2023 by Garden Chapel Funeral Directors
Mario came to the US in 1952 and met the love of his life in 1955. From 1957 to 1959 he served in the US Army. On November 7, 1959 he married Margarita and moved to South San Francisco where they started their family.
Following an accident at work, he became a stay-at-home dad and raised his 5 children while also donating his time to various charities and organizations: All Souls Catholic Church, SSF Rotary Club, and Sister Cities Atotonilco el Alto to name a few.
While his family was his first and foremost passion, he loved visiting his extended family in his hometown, Cañadas, and traveling the world with his wife and his compadres.
Mario is survived by his wife, Margarita, and five children, Mario, Jaime (Rosa), Diana (Mike), Sylvia (David), Monica; six grandchildren, Monique (Daniel), Nicolas, Alyssa (Eduardo), Victoria, Isabella, Nathalia; and three great grandchildren, Camila, Viviana and Avayah.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 6pm – 7pm at Garden Chapel, where the vigil service will begin at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be at All Souls Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10am. Committal at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Mario M. Gonzalez’s name.
