Join Our Neighbors Saturday’s Tree Planting Event

Tomorrow Saturday March 15th the Community Preservation Task Force is meeting up at the Paradise Valley Park and asking for other neighbors to join up in this tree planting event. Folks are meeting up at 9am on Hillside and School Street and will be planting trees in the area and doing some minor clean up that makes a major difference.  The days work will end at 1pm with refreshments. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and help bring our community closer together.

The Community Preservation Task Force (CPTF) is a group of locals made of up residents, business folks,  and students along with some city staff with the purpose of looking out for, and cleaning up various areas of town that need some special attention. The group has been a huge success and their past efforts continue to bring benefits to the areas they have worked including Colma Creek, Winston Manor, Francisco Terrace, and other areas. The public is invited to join in on the monthly meetings which take place the 2nd Wednesday of the month for a working lunch; 11:30am – 1pm. They meet at the MSB on Arroyo in the Betty Weber Room (glass room next to the atrium) The group runs under the direction of South City resident Tom Carney who works with our Fire Department doing Inspections and Code concerns. He is committed to helping us all create and maintain the type of city that reflects the best of us. Your input is welcomed!

In September 2012 CPTF worked the Colma Creek and collected over  9 yards of debris and trash collected which included tires and shopping carts. This helped create a healthier habitat for our winged and finned friends that inhabit the area.  As these pictures indicate the clean up was a super success!
