Upcoming Changes
Following adoption of the SamTrans Service Plan in May 2013, SamTrans staff immediately began the work to implement the changes. To ensure customers can benefit as soon as possible, some changes were implemented in August 2013, with the balance of the changes taking place in January 2014 (see summary below).
Staying informed: Detailed schedule information will be available for customers at least three weeks in advance of the changes. Information about the changes also will be provided with written material onboard buses and through announcements on the bus using the public address and electronic message systems. Another good source of information is through our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Changes effective Jan. 26, 2014:
SamTrans is making major changes to the bus system in January 2014 to attract more customers and operate more efficiently. Changes include increasing how often a bus runs on some routes and realigning routes on a few routes to servicing the College of San Mateo from the Coastside and introducing two alternative service pilot projects. Some service also will be discontinued. Click HERE for a summary of all the changes (PDF, 21k) or view the table below.
Some of the routing changes may require customers to take alternate routes or transit, such as BART or Muni. To assist with planning your trip and finding alternatives, call our SamTrans Customer Service Center at 1-800-660-4287 (TTY only 650-508-6448).
New Bus Stop Sign: SamTrans is updating its bus stop sign design to make it easier for current and new customers to recognize and read. The new design also incorporates a unique bus stop identification number for each stop, which can be used to get real-time bus departure information from 511 and 511.org. Installation of the new signs should begin in January 2014. See the new design by clicking HERE.
