SERRAMONTE & WESTMOOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
STEP UP!
*
Crystal Cabarle, a teacher at Serramonte Del Rey, had been following Juliana’s story for a long time. When she went to the pancake breakfast fundraiser at St Roberts in San Bruno she saw all the little facts that were on the center pieces. It was then that Crystal realized how much more really needed to be done. So she brought this information and challenge to her Mom Terri Cabarle, who is the Westmoor’s own Terri-Cheer Coach. Together they brought Juliana’s story and the statistics to the 18 member cheer squad who all eagerly agreed that something more needs to be done. And with that excitement a new fundraising to benefit Juliana’s Journey Foundation began.
“The squad all carried around little boxes we made that had Juliana’s story on one side and the statistics about childhood cancer on the other side.” Crystal told Everything South City. “We started collecting money throughout the entire school from students and staff for the month of September. We raised $650.”
But the team was not done yet. They know there is much more to do and they are working on another outreach to help benefit Juliana’s Journey Foundation’s 2nd Annual Toy Drive. “The Volleyball Coach found out and asked if he can team up with the cheerleaders. So from now until December 13th the Cheer and Volleyball teams will be helping collect toys for the toy drive.” Crystal said, “My mom and I thought it would be fun if we did a little contest with it so whichever 4th period class brings in the most toys by December 13th will receive a Pizza party from the Cheer squad and Volleyball team.”
Everything South City sends a SHOUT OUT to these incredible students!
