It’s been 15 months since Phil White retired as our Fire Chief leaving Mike Massoni pulling double duty covering both Police and Fire as the Public Safety Chief. Now that Chief Massoni is set to retire in early September our city is working to cover both department heads. The City is now interviewing candidates to fill Massoni’s position as Police Chief.
We are excited to welcome Bill Reilly as our new (interim) Fire Chief. The City will be hosting the Change of Command Ceremony on July 30 and invite the public to attend. The event will be held at the SSF Fire Station 61 located at 480 North Canal, between Orange Avenue and Spruce Avenue. The Change of Command Ceremony will start at 10am. Light refreshments will be served.
Chief White had served in our community for 30 years when he retired in April 2013. Police Chief Massoni has been with our Police Department for 35 years. Both men leave a tremendous legacy in our City.
