Vote for SSF Shannen Recio as She Shares Hope with Homeless

South San Francisco, CA    February 6, 2016   Submitted by Shannen Recio

Shannen Recio hopes to help homeless with her Hope Kits

Shannen Recio hopes to help homeless with her Hope Kits

Shannen’s BIG IDEA is to collect and distribute hygiene kits called ‘Hope Kits’ to homeless individuals. These kits include hygiene products such as toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, combs, and even undergarments! They also include notes of hope that may bring a smile to the receiver’s face. Shannen recognizes that homeless individuals can feel invisible and ignored, and she believes that Hope Kits may bring hope and can raise awareness that people do not choose to be homeless and have basic needs that can be fulfilled. Shannen is the public relations officer of her Students In Action team and a member of the Jefferson Awards Foundation’s Think Big Team.
