Preliminary Election Results City of South San Francisco

South San Francisco, CA    November 7, 2018    Submitted by Krista Martinelli, SSF City Clerk

The San Mateo County Elections Office has issued its Final Election Night Report. While the first Post-election Report is scheduled to be issued tomorrow at 4:30 p.m., in a telephone conversation this morning, the County could not provide an estimate of the number of outstanding ballots for counting.

The Elections Office did advise that it is still actively counting and might be in a position to provide more information regarding outstanding ballots by the end of the day today or sometime tomorrow morning. Official results updates are scheduled through November 19th and as needed thereafter.

The Elections Office has 30 days from yesterday to certify the vote. The following link leads to results as they are issued: https://www.smcacre.org/november-6-2018-election-results

Preliminary results based on the Final Election Night Report are pasted below.  Although the SSFUSD School Board is not a City race, I have posted it below for your information.

UPDATE: In further conversations with the San Mateo County Elections Office this afternoon, I learned that in a few days, the County will be posting a report of ballots left to be counted.  From what I gather, the report will be on a County-wide basis. I was advised that Elections Office workers are still opening up ballot boxes and working late nights and all weekend to have as much information out as soon as possible.

UPDATE- Message from Mayor Liza Normandy from her FB page:

Every Vote Counts and in our SSF City Council race – your Vote does Matter!

Counting votes does not end on Election Night. Still to count: Vote by Mail ballots received in the mail, Vote by Mail ballots dropped off at Vote Centers or Drop Boxes, paper ballots cast at Vote Center and provisional ballots. These ballots are counted during the 30-day period known as the Official Election Canvass.

The legally mandated processes described above are utilized to guarantee that every vote is counted and included in the official final election returns. They have till Thursday December 6th to certify our election.

UPDATES from our Election office are as follows:
November 8, 13, 16 & 19 at 4:30pm
& additional releases will be daily at 4:30pm as necessary

I will provide updates on our SSF City Council race only.
