EDD Releases Private Information on our South City Neighbor

South San Francisco, CA  July 14, 2021

We have been following many of our neighbors complaints lodged against California’s Employment Development Department {EDD} inefficiency and lack of response, especially this past year. This article that originated with ABC Bay Area News and re-broadcasted by Newsbreak.com, tells of yet another issue, this time a very serious one regarding privacy of one of our neighbor’s personal information. It turns out that the EDD sent personal mail to the wrong person, making us once again ask, how secure is our identity? In this case, it was fortunate that the receiver did the right thing- reached out to let our neighbor know of this security breach and returned the packette back to EDD.

“She’s calling to inform me that she has my name, my address, my phone number, my email, my SSN, and all my job and salary information and my appeal request,” said Farrar, a South San Francisco resident.

Read more on this situation and let us know – what would you do? How do we prevent our private information from being compromised, especially by a government agency?
